Position Overview
The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for full operational, clinical, and regulatory oversight of the pharmacy’s non-sterile compounding services, ensuring compliance with Virginia Board of Pharmacy and USP <795> standards.
Core Responsibilities
- – Serve as designated Pharmacist in Charge for the facility.
- – Maintain compliance with VA Board of Pharmacy and USP <795>.
- – Oversee formulation quality, verification, and documentation including MFRs, CRs, COAs, and BUD assignments.
- – Lead inspections, audits, and regulatory communications.
- – Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and compounders.
- – Manage inventory, SOPs, quality assurance, and workflow.
- – Counsel patients and providers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- – Active, unrestricted Virginia Pharmacist License.
- – Eligible to serve as PIC in Virginia.
- – Strong pharmaceutical calculations, compliance, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- – Compounding experience preferred (non-sterile highly valued).
- – Previous PIC or management experience.
- – Familiarity with PCCA, Medisca, or LP3 formulation tools.
- – Audit and inspection experience.
